The Worcester Railers are a professional ice hockey team in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) and an affiliate of the New York Islanders. The Railers will premier during the upcoming 2017-2018 season, joining the 27 other ECHL teams across the US and Canada. The ECHL announced the new Worcester team in February 2016 under the ownership of Cliff Rucker, and the management of Toby O’Brien, later replaced by Mike Myers. Their 14-player roster is made up of highly skilled players who are making their way towards the NHL.
DCU Center, conveniently located in Downtown Worcester, serves as home ice for the Railers. The arena is the perfect home base for the Railers and fans alike as it holds 12,239 fans and offers new and improved amenities such as concourse and concessions. It is the perfect venue for a low-key night out to watch some high-quality hockey from up close!
The Railers were welcomed to the area as the first ECHL franchise in Massachusetts and the second in New England after the Manchester Monarchs. Through the team’s mission to engage fans and partners in more than just the game-night experience, but also in all aspects of the team, you have the opportunity to be part of the Railers community on and off the ice.
With various special events and themed nights, Railers games never have to be boring. Some of these special events include,
- Trick or Treating
- Jersey Giveaways
- School Game Day
- Slap Shot Night – specialty jerseys to benefit the American Diabetes Association
- Marvel weekend
… and more!
The Railers are also active members of the greater Worcester community. Through the Worcester Railers HC Foundation, the team offers support to youth and families and promoting greater access to sports and art programs through the greater Worcester area.
The Worcester Railers are an exciting new team that can offer you an enjoyable night of everything from fun activities to free giveaways and, of course, some great hockey!
