The Cape Cod Senior Softball Classic is an independent “Invitational” for teams rated AAA or less. Annually, this tournament brings more than 1,300 players and families from off Cape Cod, in addition to a number of teams playing on the Cape during the regular season. Last year was a great success, having 58 teams competing in 5 different age groups.
Once people get over the idea that so many “old guys” are out there playing softball all season, the next question is WHY? A very real reason is the friendships that are developed by playing in this league. This is not just limited to teammates, but extends throughout the league and across divisions. That is the spirit of the CCSSL!
About the Cape Cod Senior Softball League: The Cape Cod Senior Softball League (CCSSL), started in 1987, then known as the Cape Old Timers Softball League, is dedicated to senior softball for players 55 years and older. Their first priority is to provide an atmosphere of recreation, and enjoyment of the game of softball for players at all levels of athletic skill at a competitive level. They strive to provide a safe environment for all players. CCSSL is a non-profit corporation staffed by dedicated officers, directors and volunteers who donate their time and efforts to the operation and total governance of the League. Their goal, as outlined in the League’s By-Laws, is to support softball programs and related activities that will best serve the senior population that resides in a wide area of Cape Cod in the state of Massachusetts.
