Cape Cod Baseball League Begins June 14

12 Jun

Cape LeagueThe 132-year-old Cape Cod Baseball League will begin play once again this week, with the world’s best young players looking to make a mark on the MLB scouts in attendance.  The 44-game regular season will begin on June 14, with all 10 teams taking the field across the Cape.  The All-Star Game will take place on July 22 at Spillane Field in Wareham.  Playoffs will follow, starting on August 5.  For the last three seasons, the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox have taken the Cape league championship.  The CCBL does not charge admission for games, they will only ask for a voluntary donation.  All players spend the summer with host families and the league runs on the support of the communities which house the teams.  One in every seven MLB players has played in the Cape League.  Below is information about the league in general, as well as each individual team.
